John Hart has over 20 years experience as a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist. Over the past nine years he has incorporated the principles of environmental medicine and Functional Medicine to help his patients with conditions that do not respond well to allopathic/conventional treatments. These include, but are not limited to, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, chronic/systemic yeast infections, Lyme Disease, hypothyroidism, hormonal imbalances, and adrenal exhaustion.
Because over 60% of Americans suffer from various chronic symptoms, Dr. Hart concentrates his efforts on helping his patients find and solve the underlying causes of their maladies. Since these conditions affect us all, Dr. Hart has been helping both genders and all age groups recover good health and develop positive strategies to maintain optimal physical and mental functioning for the coming decades.
"You should be vigorous and have energy. That's attainable, but it takes commitment." That's the voice of personal experience. John Hart, M.D., had his own ordeal with chronic illness beginning back in the late 80s. While working in the Middle East, he contracted a drug-resistant type of giardia. Though a treatment was finally effected a year later, none of the usual medical approaches helped him recover from the debilitating damage the parasite had done. By mid-90s he had to return to the US to continue his search for answers. The fatigue, weight loss, allergies, systemic yeast, malabsorption, etc., caused by his illness set him on the path to finding a comprehensive approach for diagnosing and treating the underlying causes to many chronic illnesses. He began Functional Medicine for Families in March 2002. Dr. Hart received a BS and an MS in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech and he received his MD from the University of Virginia. The Harts have four children whom they have home schooled since their time in the Middle East. Their home in Loudoun County has three pianos, one cat, and a Golden Retriever.
